چکیده

Recent research into use cases advocates guidance in the composition and structuring of their descriptions. For example, the CREWS research project has proposed Use Case Authoring Guidelines. As such, this paper describes an experiment, which compares the utility of use-case writing guidelines, specifically our own (CP) guidelines with those from the CREWS group. Replication of CREWS studies has indicated that use cases are improved through the application of guideline sets, but that their application is problematic. Further experimentation has focused on comparing our own (leaner) CP Rules to those of CREWS. Our pilot experiment appeared to show that the CP Rules performed as well as those from CREWS across two types of scenario or domain. We further noted from the pilot that the CP Structure Rules actually fared better for one of the scenarios. Hence, the pilot seemed to suggest that the CP Rules would perform at least as well as the CREWS Guidelines, whilst also flagging a possible need to consider the type of scenario. The experiment now described thus attempts to confirm the findings of the pilot. In some senses, this has been successful, in that we conclude the CP Structure Rules either fare as well or better than those from CREWS. However, we also note that the improved CP scores seen were for the opposite scenario to those for the pilot. Hence, whilst being gratified by the general trend of the result we also consider the issues of combining studies in this way.

Influence of initial spatial layout on seismic behavior of masonry buildings with curved roof systems

Early design decisions made on building configuration and spatial design affect seismic behavior of buildings. Therefore introducing design guidelines and empirical methods implemented to assess seismic behavior of buildings have been proposed as an appropriate approach. Such concept helps architects to take into the consideration that how their preliminary design decisions influence downstream...

Investigation and Statistical comparison of the soil empirical desalinization models for salin-sodic soils (Case study: Khuzestan province)

Accumulation of soluble salts in arid areas which are similar to most regions of Iran is inevitable in soil surface and profile because of low precipitation and high evaporation. High concentration of soluble salts in soil profile caused severe problems for root water uptake thus plant growth stopped. Reducing soil salinity to optimized content by leaching and avoiding soil pounding must be con...

Communicability Graph and Community Structures in Complex Networks

We use the concept of network communicability (Phys. Rev. E 77, 036111 (2008)) to define communities in a complex network. The communities are defined as the cliques of a “communicability graph”. The communicability graph is defined here as the graph having the same set of vertices as the complex network and the connections between them are determined by the communicability function. Two nodes ...

Promoting city center parking qualities using urban design guidelines

Quality is the most important consequence of an urban design project, and its promotion is the final duty of an urban designer. So "urban design guidelines" which use environmental improvement factors in their structure, have an effective role in promoting urban space quality. "Urban design guidelines" are the most important instruments in urban designers' authority, to reflect and appear im...

Seismic Response of 4-Legged Self-Supporting Telecommunication Towers

Telecommunication tower is an important component of the basic infrastructure of communication systems and thus preserving them in events of natural disasters - such as a severe earthquake - is of high priority. In past studies, researchers have mostly considered the effects of wind and earthquake-induced loads on 3-legged (triangular cross-section) self-supporting steel telecommunication tower...
